Teaching Philosophy
I approach teaching from a space of radical love and humbleness for the students and the knowledge that gets created and shared in the classroom. As a first-generation migrant from South America that migrated to the U.S. and was in ESL classes, navigating education as best as possible, I understand the importance of providing spaces of learning that fit various learning needs. To me, feminist pedagogy means uplifting marginalized histories and histories of resistance; seeing student experiences as knowledge production; and curating safe learning spaces. While I expect a lot from students and I tell them so, I have witnessed that they are receptive to the challenge and ultimately want to learn, want to be active members of society, and want to work at creating a better future.
